A tropical depression formed Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean and is expected to become a tropical storm later in the day.

According to the National Hurricane Center, the eighth depression of the season is not expected to make landfall. It will likely stay east of the United States as its travels from its formation spot east of the Bahamas.

The depression is expected to become a tropical storm today as it moves northwest and remain at that intensity when it cuts northeast Monday night.
