Pinellas OKs ferry with 5-1 vote.

  • The agreement is structured so HMS Ferries would get the first $125,000 of the ferry’s revenues.
  • Pinellas County commissioners voted 5-1 to approve funding for the ferry that will run between Tampa and St. Petersburg.
  • If approved by Pinellas County Commission memners and Tampa and St Pete city councils, the ferry will be up and running November 1st.
  • The pilot project will cost $1.4 million and the ferry, from HMS Ferries, is only available on loan from northern cities during the winter months, limiting the length of the test program.
  • The deal had already been approved by Hillsborough County and the cities of St. Petersburg and Tampa .
