  • TAMPA, Fla. (WTSP) – It’s been years since the Tampa Bay area was hit with a major hurricane, but emergency crews in Tampa know that’s no excuse to not be prepared.
  • Thursday, emergency operations crews will run through several drills throughout the city to test Tampa’s preparedness for a category 3 hurricane.
  • Roving crews will take pictures out in the streets and then upload them online to the cloud so that in-house crews will have immediate visual information on what areas are hardest hit.
  • One of the drills involves navigating “push routes,” which are the major roads emergency crews travel to move debris out of the way left behind after the storm.
